Xbox and Microsoft Store preorder cancellations

Microsoft says you can cancel a preorder from your account order history. Microsoft account balance may be charged immediately, while other payment methods can be charged closer to release.

Physical and third-party retailer orders

Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, GameStop, and other retailers control their own cancellation, pickup, shipping, and return rules. Open the order details from the retailer that accepted payment, check whether the order has entered shipping, and keep the cancellation confirmation. Do not assume a console-store policy applies to a retailer order.
